WGU class help.

At WGU the term is a flat fee and speed is the whole economy, which is why a returned performance assessment costs more than it looks. We prepare objective assessments from the competencies and build performance ones to every aspect, so the term ends the way you planned it.

An objective assessment and a performance one are barely the same subject.

Students lose time here by preparing for both types the same way, and they are not alike. An objective assessment is a timed test with a cut score, so it rewards recognition and speed. A performance assessment is a document read against named aspects, so it rewards completeness and evidence instead.

Treat a performance task like an essay and it comes back. Treat a timed test like a paper and you run out of clock halfway. Your specialist prepares each in its own way, and the first thing you receive is a plain statement of which remaining courses are which.

Why an evaluator sends a performance task back.

Almost never because the writing was poor. It comes back because one aspect was answered somewhere other than where the evaluator looks, or answered implicitly, or answered for two of three required elements. Evaluators read against a list, and anything on that list which is not visibly present gets recorded as absent.

So we build these in the rubric's own order and label each part so nothing has to be hunted for. Where a task names a number of items, the count is checked. Where it asks you to justify a choice, there is a justification rather than a description. That difference is what turns three submissions into one.

How people accelerate without falling apart.

Acceleration works when the courses left are test-heavy and you know the material. It fails when four performance tasks are stacked behind a hard date with no slack for a single return. People who burn out here accelerated on optimism rather than on a count.

Your specialist counts the remainder, weighs it against the days in the term, and hands you a plan saying what must clear each week. Sometimes that plan says you can finish two more courses than expected. Sometimes it says one should roll into the next term on purpose, which beats a term ending in a scramble.

Proposal, project and presentation, in that order.

The capstone is where competency-based study stops being modular, because its three pieces have to agree with each other. A proposal promising something the project cannot deliver produces a presentation that quietly contradicts both, and evaluators notice the seam immediately.

We hold all three as one piece of work: the proposal written so the project is achievable, the project executed against what was promised, and the presentation built from the project rather than assembled at the end. Statistical work goes to a doctoral statistician, and if your program needs supervised hours, EDL 210 handles the site and the filing while EDL 340 covers the timed assessments.

Tell us what remains

Your remaining courses, which are timed tests and which are submitted tasks, and the date your term flips. A WGU specialist quotes it free within two hours.

2

You get a real count

We work out what can clear before the term ends and say plainly what should wait, before any drafting or drilling begins.

3

Submissions clear first time

Performance tasks go in built to every aspect, objective assessments are drilled from the competencies, and the pacing guide stops being a threat.

Common questions.

Can you help me pass an objective assessment?

Through preparation, which is the only honest version of that offer. We build a study order from the competencies the assessment covers, run timed practice so the clock stops being a surprise, and work through the reasoning behind every miss until the pattern is clear. You sit the assessment yourself, properly prepared rather than hoping the material sticks.

My performance task keeps getting returned. What changes?

Usually the structure rather than the content. We rebuild the submission in the rubric's order, answer each named aspect where the evaluator expects it, check required counts literally, and replace implied answers with explicit ones. Most returns are caused by an aspect addressed indirectly, which reads to an evaluator as an aspect that was skipped entirely.

Should I try to accelerate this term?

A specialist counts the assessments left against the days remaining and tells you what genuinely fits, including when the answer is that one course should roll forward. Where acceleration is realistic, the plan states what must clear each week and the work is delivered to that schedule. Deciding on arithmetic beats deciding on enthusiasm.

Does the same person stay with me across courses?

Yes, wherever credentials allow. Continuity matters more here than at most schools, because a specialist who already knows your program, your pacing guide and how your evaluators read does not need briefing again for the next course. Where a subject needs a different chair, the handover happens with the plan intact rather than starting over.
